2012/2013 FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS YOUTHS IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES

The Honorable Minister of Education, Prof. (Mrs.) Raqayyatu Ahmed Rufai hereby invites applicants from qualified Nigerian students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions to participate in the 2012/2013 selection interviews for scholarship awards tenable in Nigeria tertiary institutions.
Application forms are available online at www.fsb.gov.ng and can be filled and printed by prospective candidates for endorsement by their HOD and Registrars of their institutions.

2. ELIGIBILITY
       I.            Undergraduate, HND & NCE Scholarship:
All applicants should be registered full–time students in their second year or above in recognized Federal and State Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Colleges of Education. They should also obtain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 on a 5 point scale, or its equivalent in the previous academic year’s examinations.
    II.            Postgraduate scholarship:
Applicants must be registered full–time students of recognized Federal and State owned universities and must have a minimum of second class Honors (upper division) in 1st degrees.

CIPE Youth International Essay Contest

Each year, the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) invites young people to share their ideas on how youth can help strengthen democracy and the private sector. CIPE has launched the Youth Essay Competition 2012. The aim is to encourage young people to share their ideas on how to create opportunities for youth to strengthen democracy and the private sector in their own countries.

Who can participate?
Students and young professionals aged 18-30.
Past CIPE Youth Essay Competition Winners are not eligible to participate.
Essay Topic
Students will have to write in English, an essay of minimum 1500 up to 2500 words on the specified categories. Your essay should address one of the following three categories. (The questions in bullet points are descriptive guidance meant to help you think about the topic. You do not necessarily have to answer these questions in your essay.) CIPE Youth essay competition

Denmark Government Scholarships for International Students

The Denmark Government welcomes highly qualified and motivated international students from all over the world to study in Denmark. A number of scholarships are therefore offered each year by the Danish Ministry of Education to fund students from countries outside the European Union/ European Economic Area. The scholarships can be awarded for a full degree programme or for part of a degree programme at undergraduate or postgraduate level.

Korean Government Scholarship Program for International Students

The Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) is designed for international students who wants to pursue higher education in Korean Universities. The scholarship supports Bachelor’s (4 years), Masters (2 years), and PhD  (3 years) plus 1 year Korean language course.

Around 110 undergraduate scholarships and 345 graduate scholarships will be awarded in 2013 (based on 2012 data).

Target group:
The scholarships are targeted to students from more than 60 countries in Africa, Asia Pacific, the Americas and Europe. You can check the KGSP guidelines (link found below) to find out if your country is part of the scholarship program.

Ghent Masters Scholarships in Belgium for Developing Countries

Ghent University offers postgraduate Masters scholarships to international students from selected developing countries who wish to study in Belgium and obtain a master’s degree at Ghent University.

Innovation Prize For Africa Calls For Applications


The Innovation Prize for Africa (IPA) is a joint initiative by the African Innovation Foundation (AIF) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). It mobilizes African innovators and entrepreneurs by providing USD 150'000 to winners who deliver market oriented solutions for African-led development. The IPA was awarded for the first time during a Gala Dinner organized as a side event to the ECA Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, on 26 March 2012, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The IPA will be awarded annually during the next five years.

The competition for IPA 2013 is now open, and the launch of this new round of competition was announced on July 04, 2012 through a press release. Overall, the IPA focuses on African-led solutions, it recognizes innovative breakthroughs that unlock new African potentials, and it mobilizes leaders from all sectors to fuel African innovation.
