The 2012 International European Intelligence Academy (EIA) Essay Writing Competition

Subject: “How the Iranian nuclear standoff and Middle-East tensions could be addressed in the context of International Relations?”
Awards: The student / young scholar who writes the best essay will receive $500 USD, Certificate of First Award, a Trophy, and one year internship opportunity with European Intelligence Academy (EIA). All decisions made by European Intelligence Academy (EIA) are final.


Deadline: Entries must be received by no later than MAY 31, 2012

Eligibility

1. The author of the essay shall have completed an undergraduate degree in 2011

2. This competition is only eligible for young scholars up to 30 years old (as of May 31, 2012)

Guidelines

1. Essays must be 1200-1500 words, Times New Roman 12pt. font, all citations required to be inline citation in MLA format

2. Competitors are required to provide a short biography maximum 700 words or 2-page CV

3. Essays must have a cover page indicating:

Submission Guidelines

2. Essays must be original and unpublished.

3. Essays must be written by one person. Co-authored essays are not accepted.

4. Copyright of the essays submitted will be assigned to the organizers.

1000 SCHOLARSHIP FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRIES | 2012-2013

The Heinrich Böll Foundation grants scholarships to approximately 1,000 undergraduates, graduates, and doctoral students of all subjects and nationalities per year, who are pursuing their degree at universities, universities of applied sciences (‘Fachhochschulen’), or universities of the arts (‘Kunsthochschulen’). We expect our scholarship recipients to have excellent academic records, to be socially and politically engaged, and to have an active interest in the basic values of the foundation: ecology and sustainability, democracy and human rights, self determination and justice.

A. Applicants for a student scholarship

Students of all subjects who are pursuing a FIRST university degree and who gained their university entrance qualification from a German school (‚Bildungsinländer_innen‘)

1. Student scholarship – general:
Applications are possible before you begin your study programme or within the first three semesters.

Special (but not exclusive) focus groups are:
First-generation students, students with a migrant background, or students from universities of applied sciences (‘Fachhochschulen’).
Students in MINT study programmes (mathematics, informatics, natural sciences, or technical subjects), especially with an environmental focus (e.g. environmental studies, climate studies, renewable energies etc.).

2. Student scholarship – journalism programme „Medienvielfalt, anders: Junge Migrantinnen und Migranten in den Journalismus“
Applications are possible before you begin your study programme or within the first three semesters.

B. Applicants for a doctoral scholarship (PhD)
1. Doctoral students of all subjects who gained their university entrance qualification in Germany and who wish to do their doctoral studies in Germany:
Applicants must provide proof that they have been accepted as a doctoral student by an institution of higher education in Germany or an EU country.
Preference will be given to dissertation projects related to the working areas of the Heinrich Böll Foundation.

2. Doctoral scholarships: Focus programme “Transformation Research”
Doctoral students from Germany and abroad who would like to apply for the focus programme”Transformation Research”.
